Virtual Individual Therapy
Making time for therapy can be hard. Virtual individual therapy removes many of the boundaries that can make coming to therapy more challenging. We meet through my virtual clinic, where you sit on your own couch rather than mine. You have access to live video sessions on a secure platform that is HIPPA compliant. This is service is offered for clients throughout Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
Walk & Talk Therapy
Walk and talk therapy is just what it sounds like – we’re taking our therapy session for a walk. Walk and talk therapy gives you an opportunity to move your body and be in nature while we talk through your challenges and work on goals in therapy. There is s a growing body of scientific evidence showing that movement and spending time outdoors has numerous mental and physical health benefits – yet most Americans spend the majority of the day sitting or staring at a screen. Fresh air and movement can help clients increase present moment awareness, release healthy endorphins, and more comfortably explore their thoughts and feelings. Many people find it easier to open up and talk about difficult or uncomfortable things when they’re moving and walking side by side. It also allows for clients with busy schedules to get in therapy in while simultaneously getting a healthy dose of movement and fresh air. A minimum of 1-2 of virtual sessions are required before beginning Walk & Talk therapy. We can discuss during those initial sessions whether Walk & Talk is a good fit for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I come to therapy?
I find that clients tend to make and maintain the most progress when attending weekly. Similar to a physical workout, the more consistent we are, the more effective results we see. Biweekly sessions are usually appropriate after we have worked together for a few months and have maintained progress. Ultimately, your treatment is tailored to your individual needs and we work together to find a schedule that fits your unique situation and allows for you to see progress.
Do you take insurance?
I do not bill insurance directly, however I may be an out-of-network provider with your insurance carrier. I am happy to provide you with an insurance-ready receipt so that you can request reimbursement for our sessions. If this is of interest to you, please contact your insurance provider to determine the specifics of your coverage. You may also want to use a flex spending account (associated with your primary insurance) or a health savings account (HSA) to cover your psychotherapy fees.

Walk & Talk FAQ
Where will we walk?
We will meet at a trail or park in the West Hartford area- some favorites are Elizabeth Park, Westmoor Park, West Hartford Reservoir, & Trout Brook Trail. We will decide on a meeting place ahead of time so you know where to go and work together to ensure our route meets your fitness level.
Is Walk & Talk a cardio workout or personal training?
The primary focus of walk and talk therapy sessions is on therapy, and not on exercise. Moving your body simply helps the brain-body connection. Burning a few extra calories is an added perk. There does not have to be anything physically strenuous about the session and the client always sets the pace of the walk. I encourage clients with preexisting medical conditions to speak to their doctor before starting Walk & Talk sessions.
What should I bring?
You’ll need comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. It may also be helpful to have water, sunscreen and sunglasses on warm days. You may want a notebook to write things down during or after the session.
Can I push my baby in a stroller?
Absolutely! If doing so makes it easier for you to come to therapy than please do. We will just need to discuss in advance so we can pick a trail or park that is stroller appropriate.
Can I bring my leashed dog?
In most cases, yes, your dog is welcome to come. Where we meet, the length of our session, and your dog’s personality will all be considered in determining if it’s appropriate for your dog to join.
What about the weather?
We will discuss ahead of time to understand your weather limits, but we generally try to make session work outside even if it means grabbing a raincoat or throwing on some winter gear. If there is inclement weather (such as heavy rain or snow, wind or excessive heat or cold temperatures) we will make an adjustment to our session type. Sessions will not be canceled for inclement weather – they will be shifted to telehealth.
What about confidentiality?
Your privacy is of the utmost importance. We will be in public spaces, so it is possible that we will run into someone you know. You may also be concerned that someone could overhear our conversation. We will discuss this possibility and make a plan together about how to respond in the moment so you feel most comfortable.
